Mile Square Theatre presents The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) [revised] at Sinatra Park in Hoboken

originally published: 08/26/2021

(HOBOKEN, NJ) -- Mile Square Theatre (MST) announces its open-air production of The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) [revised]. With the generous financial support of the Hoboken Business Alliance, Mile Square Theatre returns to the Hudson River waterfront for an open-air production of the beloved comic sendup of the Bard, The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) [revised] by Adam Long, Daniel Singer, and Jess WinfieldThe play will be performed at the Sinatra Park Amphitheatre and will run for three weeks, from September 16 until October 2.

The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) [revised] brings three actors together to stumble through all 37 of the Bard’s plays in 90 hilarious, irreverent minutes. How do they do it? Very poorly. How they do it so quickly? “With great dispatch!” as old Billy Shakes would say. If you like Shakespeare, you’ll like this play. If you hate Shakespeare, you’ll LOVE this play. Either way, our company of fools guarantee to leave you breathless with laughter.

Mile Square Theatre Artistic Director Chris O’Connor says, “We are moving our way through the pandemic and re-emerging into producing plays again. We thought producing outdoors while the weather was still warm would be a great way to transition back, and presenting a silly comedy would be a welcome celebration of in-person performance for our audience. MST started as a producer of outdoor theatre back in 2003, so we are familiar with presenting open-air shows. And with the generosity of the Hoboken Business Alliance, we have the support to present ‘Complete Works.’ I’m thrilled with our cast and design team.”

Hoboken Mayor Ravi Bhalla adds “I am glad that residents and visitors will once again be able to enjoy live, in-person performances by our very own Mile Square Theatre through a partnership with the Hoboken Business Alliance. Creative partnerships like this not only provide outdoor entertainment at our City parks for residents and visitors to enjoy, but also supports the local economy. Our arts community is an essential part of the culturally rich fabric that makes up the Mile Square City and I look forward to these and many other outdoor performances in the months to come.”

The Hoboken Business Alliance (HBA), a Special Improvement District created by the Office of the Mayor and City Council, is committed to supporting the local Hoboken community. The HBA was formed to improve the district’s area and stimulate business in Hoboken. The HBA is here to ensure a safe, accessible, and prosperous business district that attracts residents and visitors to shop, eat, play, and stay in Hoboken.
